For this month’s Alfa member interview, we sat down with Lina Liu from Shenzhen, China. We chatted about Lina’s exciting career path so far, the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of working together with partners.
How did you get started in the logistics industry and what has your journey been like so far?
I have been very interested in international trade and logistics since my college days. This is why I decided to work with a freight forwarding company. I joined my company because it has an enthusiastic team and provides a good platform for the employees. I have been with my company for over 6 years in overseas department and I plan to keep working here for many more years to come. It has been a fantastic journey for sure.
How do you set yourself apart from your competitors?
We always pay a lot of attention to the market trends and the expectations of our partners and customers. We can flexibly adjust the transportation strategy in time according to the market conditions, in order to provide the best solutions for our partners and customers.
For me personally, I would love to become friends with our partner first. We think what our partner thinks, we do what our partner wants us to do. Except the above parts, being on the same page with our partners is what makes us stand out from competitors.
What do you like most about the industry and your job in particular?
We like it most when partners or customers let us know that they received their cargo well. We really find fulfillment in this type of feedback. Moreover, we like the unlimited potential of the logistics industry. Although it is hard to indicate what the biggest challenges are so far, still we have to admit that the COVID-19 had a specially unpredictable impact on every logistics company. Luckily we did a good job so far, and we are ready to face the upcoming challenges. What I believe is that is we are going to face these challenges together with our partners and we will beat it eventually.
What do you like the most about being a member of our logistics network?
Actually I personally like the Alfa annual conference the most, because all members can be together and meet face to face. It’s totally different from the email communications or voice calls.
How do you relax in your free time?
Climbing, swimming, meditation, reading, … These sports and alone time make me relaxed and comfortable.
