Inside Alfa: Chae Jeon

We interviewed Chae Jeon from South Korea about his love for the logistics industry and his struggles with the current challenges.

How did you get started in the logistics industry and what has your journey been like so far?

My logistics career started when I joined a major Korean airline as cargo sales staff in 1988. After 10 years, I decided to move to the freight forwarding, where I mainly handled sea freight and breakbulk. 3 years later, I established my company in 2001. My journey in the industry so far is exciting enough and ready to build new experience.

What would you change about the logistics industry?

I wish I could change the rate structure for LCL based on the general consensus in the logistics industry. I guess people in our industry already understand the reason for that considering the complicated destination local charge.

What do you do to relax in your spare time?

Due to the pandemic, I tend to go with the typical Netflix and listening music on YouTube. Sometimes, I also go out for mountain climbing sometimes

How did COVID-19 impact your business?

There was no extensive shutdown in South Korea until now, so the COVID-19 pandemic did not really affect our daily operation. However, the logistics industry in South Korea as a whole was effected just as the rest of the world. It is the very first time that I have experienced these kinds of equipment shortages and skyrocketing rates.

What are your company’s goals for the next 5 years?

We always aim to be the first contact for our customers and overseas partners ,when it comes to logistics issues to and from Korea, this remains our main target.
